Even with bad weather and a 3 day lockdown in the lead up to this month’s Community Service Sunday, volunteers still came out in force to do good to their neighbours in Logan West.
The monthly event has been gathering momentum this year as residents join forces for two hours to help each other help others.
From scooping chook poop and trimming trees to washing walls and cleaning out garages, Logan West individuals and families spread out across Logan West to take care of a list of projects that had been submitted to Park Ridge Connect.
This month’s job list included:
  • Trimming trees, cleaning out the chook pen and mowing the yard for an elderly gentleman who had broken his leg.
  • Washing walls and furniture for a single mum who is a full time carer.
  • Picking up litter from one end of Waller Park to the other, and Granada Park
  • Cleaning gutters and trimming branches
  • Sewing ‘Blankets of Love’ for Logan Hospital
  • Cleaning out the garage of an elderly couple
  • Cooking meals for families in need
  • Pressure cleaning a verandah and pathway
  • Replacing a gate on a community playground
Volunteers arrive at 8:45am to be sent out in teams at 9am. They get as much done as they can in two hours before returning to base for morning tea together.
Anyone is welcome to submit projects or volunteer for Sunday 1 August.
