Park Ridge Connect hosted its first ever community markets as more than 30 stall holders and hundreds of market-goers came together at Kingdom Life Centre on September 11, 2021.

Market attractions included car boot sales, market stalls, food vans, jumping castles, and performers.

Those who attended enjoyed a range of food and drink, including donuts, coffees, snow cones, and cakes, chips, gems, sausage sizzles, croissant waffles and more.

With stalls including handcrafted products, toys, lego, plants, candles, clothing, second-hand bargains and more, there was something available for people of all ages and interests.

Marketgoer Phil Hackett said the Park Ridge Markets was a very enjoyable time for his family.

“The kids love the snow cones, bouncy castle and exploring the different stalls,” he said.

“We all came away with some great memories and various toys and magazines.”

Logan West Community Pantry administrator Katrina Christie said the markets had a family-friendly atmosphere.

“The markets were a great success – we enjoyed our time there with the community connecting with new and old faces.

“We are looking forward to the next one.”

Doorstoppers

Grace Legg from Timbo’s Shop said the market had a “really great community, friendly vibe.”

“There was also a good variety of stalls to cater to the majority of people’s interests,” she said.

“My little sister had a really fun time on the jumping castle and it was one of the best she’s ever been on – which coming from her is saying a lot.

“We can’t wait for the next one.”

The event was attended by Logan City Councillors including Jacob Heremaia from division eight, Tim Frazer from division seven and Natalie Willcocks from division 11.

Federal Member for Forde Bert van Manen also dropped in for a chat with the people.

Food Court

Park Ridge Connect manager Paul Jackson said the markets would be held quarterly towards the end of each school term, and more than a third of the stall sites for the next one had been booked already.

“Our next one will be Saturday 27 November,” he said.

“It will include some Christmas themed performances and entertainment.”
