Life& Legacy - A rich perspective

Life&Legacy – A rich perspective

Do you know who the richest person in the world is right now? His name is Elon Musk.

If you don’t know who he is you may have heard of Tesla, the electric car company, or SpaceX, the company who wants to make space travel possible.

Elon is the founder of these companies.

This guy has literally changed the world through innovation.

However, unlike most of the super rich, Elon is not a business man. He’s an engineer and he spends most of his time in design.

When asked, in an interview, how his companies manage to be so innovative, he talked about his physics background.

He goes right back to first principles – that is, the most fundamental truths about how the world works. He then builds on top of that.

Most people innovate by analogy, he says. They copy someone.

Apparently, to be brilliant you just need to start with the simple truth and build on that, wherever it leads.

Or you could follow the crowd with their breakthroughs and limitations.

Jesus said something similar about human existence. “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭7:13‬ ‭NIV‬

That’s a warning about following culture blindly – the crowd doesn’t always have it right. In fact, in Jesus’ words, the majority get it wrong.

There are so many opinions out there. Some so loud, we dare not disagree – at least not out loud.

We, however, have the responsibility to seek the truth and take the risk to live by what we believe to be true.

This may take you down a narrow road – a road not travelled by many but one that is meaningful and matters, a direction that might just change the world… or perhaps change someone’s world.
