PARKLANDS CHRISTIAN COLLEGE Community Update #4
Parklands Christian College wishes to advise that the staff and students of our school are now in home quarantine until 6th August, 2020. The Metro South Public Health Unit has now advised the College community that all students and staff will be required to be tested on Monday 3rd and 4th August, irrespective of previous testing.
To accommodate this new testing regime, and to allow time for results to be returned, the College will now be closed until Monday 10th August, 2020. We hope that the College will once again be together on site to re-start school on this date.
Our staff are now busily preparing to provide learning at home for our students, and are re-launching our PCC@Home platform. Despite this further disruption to our community, we remain positive and we remain absolutely committed to doing everything we can to ensure our school has no further positive cases of the COVID- 19 virus. Parklands has and will continue to follow all Government directions and advice to ensure the safety of our students, staff and Parklands community, and we will continue to provide updates as they become available.
We wish to sincerely thank the Metro South and Gold Coast Public Health Unit for their partnership during this difficult time. We also wish to thank the countless number of community members and fellow schools and associations for their support and encouragement. Finally, we also wish to thank our dear College community for their support in difficult times, we love you all.

PARKLANDS CHRISTIAN COLLEGE Community Update #3

Parklands Christian College wishes to advise that the staff and students of our school are now in home quarantine until 6th August, 2020. The Public Health Unit is currently working closely with us to manage the situation, and will soon be in contact with every staff member and family within the College. While this situation represents a considerable disruption to the lives of our families, we collectively support the efforts of the Metro South Public Health Unit.

During these extraordinary times, our students and their parents have come together in support of our school, and we consider it a privilege to be part of such a loving and caring community. We have also received many letters and messages of encouragement from other schools, community groups, government and the wider community at large. Thank you all for your support during this challenging time.

Our staff are now busily preparing to provide learning at home for our students. We will be diligently working on maintaining good lines of communication with our families, and providing online and home based education until such time as we can be together again. Parklands has and will continue to follow all Government directions and advice to ensure the safety of our students, staff and Parklands community, and we will continue to provide updates as they become available.

PARKLANDS CHRISTIAN COLLEGE Community Update #2

Parklands Christian College wishes to advise that a current member of staff has tested positive to COVID-19 infection. Queensland Health is currently working closely with us to manage the situation. At this stage we can confirm that the infected staff member was a cleaner, and we believe that the person in question has had limited contact with students and the wider College community. Furthermore, thanks to the speedy assistance of the Metro South Public Health Unit, we have been able to identify those few staff who may have been in direct contact with this person and in turn, they have been isolated and tested.

Commencing at 1:00pm today, the Metro South Public Health Unit commenced COVID-19 testing of the school community, which will continue to be offered tomorrow and potentially for the remainder of the week. Many of the college families were tested today.

At this time, we believe it prudent to close the school for the remainder of the week so that thorough cleaning by professionals can be completed, and to allow our school community the opportunity to avail COVID-19 testing over the next few days. All school operations remain suspended, with the site open exclusively for COVID-19 testing of Parklands Families. Parklands has and will continue to follow all Government directions and advice to ensure the safety of our students, staff and Parklands community, and we will provide updates as they become available.

PARKLANDS CHRISTIAN COLLEGE Community Update #1
Confirmed Case of COVID-19

Parklands Christian College wishes to advise that a current member of staff has tested positive to COVID-19 infection. Queensland Health is currently working closely with us to assess the situation. At this stage we can confirm that the infected staff member has been placed in isolation.  We can also confirm that a number of other staff members have also been placed in isolation as a precautionary measure due to their direct contact with the infected person.

Parklands Christian College has taken extra safety measures during this challenging season to keep our staff and children safe. As soon as we found out that a staff member tested positive, we alerted Parklands Families and Staff, and have closed our doors for professional cleaning and disinfecting.  In addition to this, and in conjunction with the Public Health Unit, COVID-19 testing will be available to those of the College community who are symptomatic or concerned.

We believe that the person in question has had limited contact with students and the wider College community.  Furthermore, thanks to the speedy assistance of the Metro South Public Health Unit, we have been able to identify those few staff who may have been in direct contact with this person and in turn, they have been isolated as a precautionary measure.

Our children and staff are like family, and we are doing everything possible to keep them safe now and in the future, that includes fully cooperating with Metro South Public Health Unit. Thank you for allowing our families privacy to deal with this situation.

Parklands has and will continue to follow all Government directions and advice to ensure the safety of our students, staff and Parklands community, and we will provide updates as they become available.
