On 11 June 2021, the annual City Shaker youth event is taking place at Parklands Christian College.
The free event will be run by ROAR Youth from 6-9pm at the Parklands Christian College sports hall on the corner of Rosia Road and Mt Lindesay Highway.
All high school students in Logan are invited to attend.
ROAR Youth pastor Zac Wassenberg said the 2021 event was set to be bigger and better than ever before.
“There’s heaps of fun things and heaps of giveaways that will be given out on the night,” he said.
Activities include futsal competitions, basketball competitions, a bucking bull, a gladiator ring, inflatable human foosball, live music, tonnes of prizes to be won, a positive message, and more.
Hot food and ROAR t-shirts would also be for sale.
Zac Wassenberg said that City Shaker, which has been running since 2016, was a great way to empower youth and connect the community through schools, local businesses, young people and their parents.
“It’s a Logan youth group, with Logan people who have grown up here, at a Logan school, reaching out to the teens of Logan.”
He said that the most rewarding thing as a youth pastor was encouraging young people through their worst and their best times, seeing young lives impacted, and being a part of the positive transformations and breakthroughs in their journeys.
“We’re putting on an event to inspire them and encourage them that they can actually have a positive impact on their community, as well as giving them hope.
“We want to see lives impacted by God,” he said.
The event will be supervised by Parklands Christian College staff and ROAR youth leader volunteers.
Every adult on site will be a blue card holder, and the event will be completely Covid safe.
Attendees are asked to download the QLD Check In app and scan the QR code upon entry.
