Park Ridge Connect is partnering with local seniors technology specialist, Garry Lock, from Simplify Technology – The Technology Pain Remover, to get Logan West seniors connected to video communication services during the COVID-19 social restrictions.
Park Ridge Connect is looking for people with spare smartphones and tablets who would like to donate them for seniors to be able to connect with their families and neighbours. The organisation has found many residents who either don’t have a device or don’t know how to use it, but this service specialises in helping seniors understand how to use smartphones, tablets/iPads and computers.
All donated devices will be checked, cleaned and made ready for their new owners to get started straight away. Following all relevant COVID-19 prevention procedures, the service will provide initial and ongoing education until the client is able to confidently connect to others for a video chat.
“Bringing the resources of the community together with Garry’s expertise will make sure our seniors can be connected to one another, family and to the services they need access to,” said Park Ridge Connect director, Paul Jackson.
“Personal connection is even more important than ever at the moment. With all the regular places and opportunities for connection now eliminated for seniors, we are doing everything we can to keep people in touch with those they love.”
If you have a device to donate or you know anyone who needs this service, please contact Paul on 0410 583 291 or email email@example.com.
