Logan City Council has appointed first-term Councillor Jacob Heremaia as the city’s newest chairperson. The new Procurement & Appropriations Special Committee was voted on by the city’s politicians during the council’s meeting on the morning of Tuesday 21 July. The Procurement & Appropriations Oversight Committee analyzes the expenditure of council to ensure value for money across the city. Its goal is to find long term savings and create local jobs. In a unanimous vote, the council created the committee and appointed Councillor Heremaia as the chairman. After the vote, Councillor Heremaia said that “I am honoured to have the unanimous support of my colleagues on this important and special committee.” Councillor Heremaia said he is looking forward to working alongside his council colleagues to deliver long-term savings for the city.
