So I’m from Logan West Community Pantry out here in Logan West Brown Plains.
So the Logan West Community Pantry started as part of our ministry arm or our social arm from our charity which is Sons of God Charity.
We’ve been a registered charity since last year so what we were doing through our charity was actually offering food relief to those who were connected into the community through our Facebook page and believe it or not due to COVID we decided to actually push that out into the community here at Logan West.
So what we do every Friday is we actually offer free fruit, vegetables, bread bakery products and dairy products from our location here at Browns Plains and on a Tuesday we also do food parcels to the local community down in Logan Central.
We also partner collaboratively with some other community groups like Rotary Browns Plains
and we do food relief parcels to the schools within Logan and we also do breakfast clubs.
So there’s quite a few forums that we actually have on our plate as part of Logan West Community Pantry.
We now occupy a space here at Hillcrest and what that space allows us to do now is actually run a men’s and women’s program – ManUp and Sisterhood.
That program is a faith-based program but it’s absolutely amazing.
People are really finding transformation in their lives and overcoming quite a lot so it really deals with a lot of the mental health issues that we’re seeing in our community and social isolation that people are experiencing because of COVID.
We are a 24/7 mandate for the program so people can actually reach out to us whenever they need to and with the Social Services of Sovereign that we’ve now opened out to the community they get a holistic wraparound support.
For anybody who wants to get involved, especially with our ManUp and sisterhood program you’ll find it on our Facebook page.
For those who are in the community already doing support things or groups just really want to sort of touch base with them, see what they’re doing and seeing if we can do something together.
