St. Philomena School in Park Ridge recently received a $20,000 grant from Federal Member for Forde Bert van Manen to purchase new musical instruments.

Mr van Manen said the funding was secured under the Morrison Government’s $200,000 Local Schools Community Fund and will allow the school to expand the musical program and improve student engagement.

The school’s Director of Music, Mr. Ronan Reilly said they were able to purchase 10 tin whistles, 25 keyboards, and an Australian-made Chamber Organ with the grant.
“We are grateful for the opportunity to expand our music Department and will allow years 3 to 6 to learn a musical instrument.”

“The Chamber Organ will also be used during school mass and gives anyone learning the piano the opportunity to progress onto the more advanced organ.”
