The growth of local community service group, Park Ridge Connect, over the last 18 months, has been an encouraging sign for the volunteer organisation. With local participants coming together around services as diverse as Bushcare or Business, Festivals or Families, History or Highways, the groups are excited about the ways people are coming together to serve the community around them.
“Most of what we do isn’t about programs we run but about creating or promoting opportunities for people across the community to connect with each other face to face,” one member said. And it’s not just about social connections. It includes connecting people to the resources and services they need. Whether it’s where to find a local mechanic or who to talk to about their footpaths, Park Ridge Connect aims to help people connect quickly to local solutions.
The service is built on the belief that the more connected we are locally, the more resilient we will be, both as individuals and as a community, when we face challenges. Park Ridge Connect offers residents the opportunity to promote their local community group or even help resource new ideas residents have that serve the needs they see around them.
