How will you navigate the tension between more people moving into the area and the needs of wildlife and the environment?
I will be advocating for more green space areas proportional to the forecast population growth for every division. Also for Logan City Council Environment levy to be used to acquire land from private landholders and stakeholders. This can be a wildlife corridor or for the protection of native fauna and animals.
What are the highest priority transport services and infrastructure you will be advocating for in your division?
I will be advocating for Salisbury to Beaudesert train line and loop to Beenleigh station. Also the continuous upgrade of Mt. Lindesay Highway and the widening of Johnson Road and Middle Road. There is a need for further studies into having service road build alongside Mt. Lindesay Highway as the upgrade continues towards Beaudesert.
What can Division 7, 8, 9 & 11 councillors do to assure more of the city budget is invested in the west?
All councillor must set achievable commitment which benefits their division and Logan City Council as a whole.
What do you think is the most important issue facing your division and how will you respond to it?
All parks in my division need the right excercise equipment installed. The walkways repaired and maintaining of trees for ease of excess. Have a security camera installed and better policing of some parks at night. More solar light also installed. Having better and safe facilities encourage more people to use it. This issue is one of many commitment I wish to achieve as a elected councillor.
What is one thing you’d like to achieve during your first term as councillor?
I will be assisting disadvantaged families in my division with my pledge of $7000 for every year of service and further assistance from government grants and can be achieved in a few months.
How can residents in your division be involved and empowered to solve local problems together with council?
I will set up a meeting every Thursday where residents can meet me face to face to raise issue affecting the communities at a nominate venue.
What qualities, experience or skills make you stand out as a candidate?
I’m caring and family-orientated. I have worked and still working in the Water and Waste Water Industry. I have extensive experience working throughtout Queensland fixing and maintaining government assets. I am a forward thinking person and love challenges.
How were you involved in your division prior to announcing your candidacy?
I’m a ratepayer living in Division 7 for 10 years and around Logan for near 20 years. I am a proud parent of two kids and married. I have supported my wife to get her nursing qualification during this time and see the kids from kindergarten to high school.
