How will you navigate the tension between more people moving into the area and the needs of wildlife and the environment?
|I’ll fight against overdevelopment.
I hate seeing all the roadkill on Park Ridge Rd and Logan Reserve Rd.
It’s a safety hazard for both motorists and local wildlife.
Development needs to be built to benefit residents, not politicians or developers.
What are the highest priority transport services and infrastructure you will be advocating for in your division?
|Our local roads need to be upgraded and bus stops need to be built.
Hundreds of houses have already been built and thousands more are planned.
Green Rd, Park Ridge Rd and Logan Reserve Rd are being left behind.
What can Division 7, 8, 9 & 11 councillors do to assure more of the city budget is invested in the west?
|Council collects over $40 million a year from development levies. This money isn’t being invested back into our area. The budget is reviewed on an annual basis with the Local Government Infrastructure Plan up for review in 2022. There is a real opportunity to get our roads upgraded. I’m not taking any donations and I’m not a part of any political party. If elected, I won’t owe any favours and will get it done.|
What do you think is the most important issue facing your division and how will you respond to it?
|Youth crime is out of control.
Young people need to be engaged with our community, programs should be offered and the State Government has to get serious on policing.
What is one thing you’d like to achieve during your first term as councillor?
|End council corruption, upgrade Park Ridge Rd and build local bus stops.|
How can residents in your division be involved and empowered to solve local problems together with council?
|Residents shouldn’t have to fix council issues by themselves, it’s why we pay rates.
We need our politicians to stand up for locals instead of their political parties or donors.
I’m not taking any money from anyone and I’m not a part of any political party.
I’ll fight for locals.
What qualities, experience or skills make you stand out as a candidate?
|I’ll get local projects done. I’m a qualified project manager and have worked on large projects for government & private businesses. My experience includes the delivery of logistics for the Commonwealth Games, telecommunications and software development. I currently manage a project of 23 people with a multi-million dollar budget. I’m still working full-time while campaigning which is why I can afford to fund my own campaign and not accept donations.|
How were you involved in your division prior to announcing your candidacy?
|My first job was washing dishes at one of the franchises on Browns Plains Rd.
I’ve led community petitions and upgraded school zones.
My family operated a small business on Vansittart Rd for years.
