How will you navigate the tension between more people moving into the area and the needs of wildlife and the environment?
Development is happening all around us right now – and in many of these development applications, there are environmental impact plans. My focus is on ensuring developers, and their contractors, are held accountable for what happens during all phases of these proceedings. I believe better communication between parties to ensure everyone’s needs are considered, including the care and respect of residents. If they don’t comply penalties should be enforced.
What are the highest priority transport services and infrastructure you will be advocating for in your division?
During my conversations with residents, 70-80-% have been transport infrastructure related. The government is pushing big business and residential development in our area and we need the Mt Lindesay Highway widened to 4 lanes to at least Logan’s boundary. Traffic congestion would also be helped with a workable bus system.
What can Division 7, 8, 9 & 11 councillors do to assure more of the city budget is invested in the west?
A good council should balance the needs of the whole community and it is my job to ensure Division 9, the Heart of Logan South gets its fair share of the budget. I have many years of experience within business and tackling budgets is something I am very familiar with. I’m looking forward to joining my fellow councillors and presenting the needs of the west and ensuring we are all well heard.
What do you think is the most important issue facing your division and how will you respond to it?
|Transport, Transport, Transport.
We need a much-improved transport system connecting people with everyday life needs: Jobs, medical, shopping, social support and building the heart of Logan South. I plan to keep the focus on this serious concert and keep the community informed.
What is one thing you’d like to achieve during your first term as councillor?
I have fresh ideas I can back up with tons of experience. I have loads of enthusiasm and I am very excited about the future. There is much work to be done to ensure Logan’s future is bright and prosperous. What is most important to me is to be a motivated positive influence for building the heart of Logan South.
How can residents in your division be involved and empowered to solve local problems together with council?
Show interest, be involved and support the community we live in. Always know that you can connect with your councillor regularly and have your say. It is important we understand the issues within our community from all points of view.
What qualities, experience or skills make you stand out as a candidate?
I believe I have the skills necessary, Positive Leadership, Good Governance and Good Communication and much more, all of which will stand me in good stead for Shaping the Future of Logan by building Division 9 - The Heart of Logan South.
