ENVIRONMENT
How will you navigate the tension between more people moving into the area and the needs of wildlife and the environment?
To make sure we have more green corridors, not just parks. We need animals to be able to move through wildlife corridors. The Logan River is a great example it can’t be build out so to create access to the river would give some freedom to our wildlife. Also for developments not to scalp the land instead adapt the estate to the natural lay of the land. Instead of making the land look like dominos
TRANSPORT
What are the highest priority transport services and infrastructure you will be advocating for in your division?
More buses, More frequently and too more areas and more promotion to actually get the public to use the buses. A lot of us are so conditioned to just jumping in our cars that one of the biggest hurdles is to try and break that habit. I have a great relationship with both the Member for Logan and the Member for Scenic Rim and these relationships will make lobbying a lot smoother
INFRASTRUCTURE SPENDING
What can Division 7, 8, 9 & 11 councillors do to assure more of the city budget is invested in the west?
Through building respect and relationships with the rest of the council team, With a committee if they understand your issues and know your expressing the real concerns of your division they will listen and vote that way. Every councillor is lobbying to get the needed resources for their own divisions, the difference with the West is that we have the fastest growth and the least infrastructure. We need a plan to get that balance right.

What do you think is the most important issue facing your division and how will you respond to it?
Over development and lack of local jobs.
We need Residential/Rural development.
There is a oversupply of 300sqm blocks.
We have a State election in Oct, we need to make changes to the State planning and infrastructure before development is a must.
We need to create commercial development inside the PDA areas as a matter of urgency to get people working closer to home so they can be with their families instead of on the highway.
GENERAL
What is one thing you’d like to achieve during your first term as councillor?
TRUST, Trust me that I’ll work hard,
Trust me that I’ll listen more than I talk,
Trust me to fight for what is important to them, Trust me that I’ll always respect their opinions. Trust that I’ll never sell them out. Trust that I’m their Fighter, no-one else’s, Trust that I was the right choice and that I won’t let them down.
GENERAL
How can residents in your division be involved and empowered to solve local problems together with council?
That’s more on me, My job is too make sure I’m accessible, Always available and aware of any issues facing my community. The more people I talk to the more I know and the more I learn. I’ve always tried to learn something off everyone I’ve met. I need to make sure residents know of any changes that will affect them and then act on it and include them in every part of the process.
PERSONAL
What qualities, experience or skills make you stand out as a candidate?
I was born here, I’ve been here for 45 years, So I know the Division better than most. I’m connected to the area, Through business owners, community groups, sporting clubs and friendships. Being a candidate is about lobbying for your division, building relationships and respect. I’ve run my own businesses including Concreting, Gyms and also Promotions. I have people skills and I can relate to what the residents need because I’m a life long Local
PERSONAL
How were you involved in your division prior to announcing your candidacy?
It’s my home. I went to school here, My kids went to school here. I’ve always been in the community. I wouldn’t know any different. From being on Club Committees to bringing The SuperX to Jimboomba. I’m part of the Rural Firies, I promoted Pink Stumps day, Helping the AFL Club, The Rugby League clubs and school P&F I love that people already come to me now when they need help. That’s a huge compliment

  1. Thank you Park Ridge News for reporting the Q&A with Scott Bannan. One issue not fully understood is the culture of the organisation, the issue here is that the Administrator has made it even more difficult for elected members to convey community concerns placing all the focus through the CEO, unless the elected members can have access to the CEO a change in culture will be difficult.
