School’s Back by Kylie Slater (Division 8 Candidate)
Happy New Year! The blink of an eye and the holidays are over. Life is back to remembering what day it is; sports, library or permission slip?
Best time of the year; house quiet, matching sock, obviously eaten by washing machine, found. Shoes shined, hair brushed, styled to perfection or shaved to oblivion. Kids, looking brand new, out the door before you can brush your teeth. Lunches prepared, no peanut paste (everyone else has allergies, shame it’s your kid’s favourite), two brain food snacks (nothing you packed previously was) and yet another drink bottle added to the collection.
First day of school has been and gone and the great thing is you get to do it all over again tomorrow except the one who started school for the first time. Wants to know why he has to go again as he already went yesterday!
Be vigilant on our roads. School zones are now in place and 40km in effect, 7-9am and 2-4pm, Monday to Friday. Nothing is more precious than our families. Take Care!
