Share The Digni-Tea by Natalie Wilcocks (Division 11 Candidate)

On Saturday the 1st of December, I had the privilege of attending a Share the digni-TEA at Café Flagstone.  Sarah Onyszczuk the owner and operator of the Café, organised the event and asked all who attended and those in the community to donate items appropriate for the Share the Dignity bags. These bags are given to women, girls and mums of all ages, ‘ensuring everyone is afforded the dignity so many of us take for granted.

Share the Dignity collects thousands of sanitary products and other things that women need’ and makes a real difference to those who receive them. The bags are then delivered to the Browns Plains Bunnings Store, where the donations will assist women and girls in our community that rely on these donations.  Sarah and all those who attended were able to provide 66 handbags, full of sanitary items and necessities for women. Plus a large box full of donated items that were just too much for the handbags.

It was lovely to watch the young people who attended the event get involved and packed the bags and learnt compassion and an understanding as to why we were donating to such a worthy cause.  Sarah also raised over $350 in raffle ticket sales and tips that also got donated to share the dignity.  A big thank you, must go to everyone in the community who supported this event in some way or another, by buying raffle tickets, donating raffle prizes, donating items for the bags or attending on the day. Sarah and Café Flagstone, thank you for organising and hosting the event.
