The Mount Lindesay Ulysses Motorcycle Club will be hosting their 10th annual Christmas Toy Run on November 20 at 6:00pm to collect toys for children in need.
Anybody with a motorcycle and a license is welcome to join Ulysses on their hour-long route, which will start and finish at Pub Lane Tavern in Greenbank.
Ulysses Club secretary Debbie Battle said all toys donated at the event would be distributed by the Logan City Council to various beneficiaries across Logan.
“We encourage all the people who come on the ride to bring a toy unwrapped,” she said.
Mrs Battle said locals were encouraged to come outside and wave at the riders, who would drive through Greenbank, Everleigh, New Beith, and Boronia Heights dressed up in Christmas gear.
“This year it’s a twilight run, so hopefully we’ll see a few bikes with fairy lights and things like that on it,” she said.
Bikers would not be able to stop and collect toys off the side of the road, but any non-riders who wished to donate a toy for children aged 0-13 can drop them off at Urban Pantry in Greenbank.
Between 100-120 riders are expected to participate in the event, and anyone is welcome to join at Pub Lane Tavern at 7pm for the raffle draw.
Registrations open from 4:30pm, and the participation cost of $10 includes a water bottle, a patch and a lucky draw ticket.
Raffle tickets will be sold for $2 each for prizes sponsored by Queensland Security Solutions, including fuel vouchers worth $500, $300, and $200 and more great prizes.
All funds raised from the ride would go to Bikers Making a Difference (B-MaD), a group that helped provide homeless people with things like toiletries, food, underwear, scarves, blankets, and other items they couldn’t afford.
The Christmas Toy Run route includes:
New Beith Road
Red Gum Road
Stoney Camp Road
St Johns Street
Mrs Battle said Ulysses was a social club for bikers over 40 who enjoyed riding all over South East Queensland, but non-members of all ages were welcome to join any of their rides.
