TOMORROW: Urban Wear Browns Plains expansion party Jamie Furness 2021-11-19 1 min read Urban Wear Browns Plains is throwing a reactivation party to celebrate the expansion of their store with an on-site DJ, giveaways, and prizes on Saturday November 20 at the Grand Plaza store. The event will be hosted by Gold Coast influencer Jaymuk, and the first 20 customers would receive an exclusive not-for-sale Activation T-shirt on entry. Urban Wear owner and founder Tyrone Glode, who grew up in Browns Plains, said the Grand Plaza site had more than doubled in size and was now the biggest Urban Wear store to date. “To say I’m excited for the reactivation is an understatement,” he said. “I’ve put some extra TLC and elbow grease in the fit-out including the biggest LED display of its kind in Logan & Brisbane.” “We’ve also got a heaps of new stock that will be out exclusively for the event as well.” Mr Glode said the Grand Plaza store had a devoted and loyal customer following which had grown every year since they opened five years ago. “They definitely deserve what’s coming their way as we open a bigger and better Browns Plains store,” he said. The expansion cost $350,000 to fit out and includes a 3 by 2.3 meter LED display, which will show Urban Wear videos and photographs. It will also bring more jobs to the local area, with the store now on the lookout for an assistant manager and casual employees. “Our customers are extremely important, and we know that happy staff equals happy customers,” Mr Glode said. “We make sure there is a focus on positivity in-store and throughout the culture as well, so we go through a pretty extensive process to ensure that is not compromised.” Urban Wear Browns Plains during the expansion of the store featuring Urban Wear owner Tyrone Glode. Mr Glode opened his first Urban Wear store in Slacks Creek as a teenager fresh out of high school without any business qualifications. There are now five Urban Wear Stores across Brisbane, Logan, Ipswich, and the Gold Coast with more stores set to arrive in the future. Popular brands sold at the street-style store include Converse, Champion, Staple, Stussy, Mitchel and Ness, Activation, Vans and more. The Urban Wear Browns Plains reactivation celebration will run from 9am – 4pm at Urban Wear Grand Plaza (Kmart end).
