How to pitch a guest column to Park Ridge News

We want documented Logan West writing — DA files, hall projects, heritage citations — not anonymous attacks or invented neighbourhood characters.

Community-green newsprint for guest-column guidelines.

Park Ridge News accepts guest columns that a stranger could check. That is the whole test.

Bring a public document: a Logan City Council agenda item, a DA number, a club AGM notice, a TMR passenger update, a heritage citation, a BOM table. Tell us in one paragraph what the document says and why a Park Ridge, Greenbank or Logan West reader should care. Then write 800 or more words that still name the document in the third paragraph, not just the first.

Do not bring:

  • unnamed villains;
  • medical claims;
  • crime accusations;
  • photographs of children;
  • a request to “make my business famous”;
  • quotes you cannot stand behind.

Byline: use a real name you are willing to see next to the piece. We will not invent a community identity for you, and we will not publish “a concerned local” as if it were a source.

Email via contact with the subject “Guest pitch.” The same FormSubmit inbox is fine. We may edit for house style and we may reject anything that fails the sourcing bar. That bar is identical to staff copy, which is the point of an independent paper rather than a pamphlet.

If you have a news tip rather than a column, use submit a tip instead.
